The first edition of the Design Week Curacao was a great succes! Between 1-5 November visitors had the chance to view different exhibitions in 3 locations; Miami Building Scharloo Abou, Casa Moderna in Punda and NAAM in Pietermaai. Fashion, Product, Photography, Jewelry, Table wear and Furniture design all formed part of this event. Known names from the local as well as international design scene participated in the event by showcasing their unique creations. Designers from Curacao, Aruba and the Netherlands formed part of the event; you can read all about the long list of participants on their website!

Scharloo Abou was proud to be hosting one of the event locations. The "Miami Building" is an iconic art deco style building with a lot of history. Most recently this building functioned as a spacious corporate office and is currently on the market for long term rent or for events. For this specific event it seemed to be an ideal setting! A design event in a art-deco-design building! The categories fashion and product design were on display here and were very well visited. See images of the opening night, where Minister Steven Martina had the honor to open the event.

The event organization aims to make this an annual event and their goal is to grow the concept with more design categories as well as more local and international participants. If you are interested in participating with your design, visit their website www.designweekcuracao.com and submit you entry on time! Scharloo Abou also hopes that this event will be organized again in the near future and that the district can be part of it again!
